Confederation of Indian Industry, in association with Maintenance Command, Indian Air Force organised the Seminar on Indigenisation and Offset Opportunities on 17th March, 2012 at Hotel Accord Metropolitan, T-Nagar, Chennai. The objective of this Seminar was to bring together users i.e. Base Repair Depotsof IAF and the industry representatives based in southern part of the country in order to interact and identify ways in which the industry can contribute to improve supply of spares for IAF operations by indigenisation and also to identify opportunities by way of offset in services field.

Union Budget 2012-13
Proceedings & Summary of the Budget Viewing Session organised by CII in Delhi on 17 March 2012. Commenting on the Budget presented by the Finance Minister, CII President Mr. Muthuraman said that the Budget had many growth oriented measures and has also made efforts towards fiscal consolidation. In particular, the timely focus on the infrastructure sector is welcome. An area of concern for industry is the increase in excise duty and service tax from 10% to 12%. At a time when industry is already facing huge increases in input cost, this will further add to the burden. It is possible that this may not yield the revenue that the Minister is looking for and instead result in further slowdown in
