a)    Mr D V Sadananda Gowda, Honourable Chief Minister, Government of Karnataka stressed on the need for a strong innovation eco-system which would be the catalyst for creating an innovation society. He also called for a greater understanding of the innovation eco-system to capture the knowledge flows within an economy, creating synergies and proposing policies and practices that would overcome constraints.

b)    Mr Kris Gopalakrishnan(Kris), Vice President, CII and Executive Co-Chairman, Infosys Limited stated the importance of Bangalore as an innovation hub since it has abundant talent, the presence of major global companies that have already made Bangalore as their centre for innovation and constant government support.

c)    Mr Ajay Nanavati, Managing Director, 3M India Ltd & 3M Lanka Pvt. Ltd, expressed that Bangalore now has  a vibrant society of entrepreneurs making it a hub for manufacturing, Research and Development , Information Technology etc.

d)     Mr. Hein De Keyzer, CEO Cognistreamer stressed on the need to create a strong culture of Innovation. He said that Innovation is not only restricted to IT but is all encompassing and success of an innovation hub is the high collaboration between organizations and the Industry.

e)    Mr. Venkatesh Valluri, Chairman, Ingersoll-Rand India stressed on the need for making Bangalore a hub for advanced engineering and innovation. He said “India is a key market and its corner stone’s of its success are productivity, innovation and growth in market creation”.

f)     The Summit had 400 plus delegates from India and abroad who felt that summit  had threw up some innovative ideas in transforming Bangalore into an Innovation Hub for the whole of Asia.

In last decade, emerging markets have evolved not only as the biggest demand base for goods but also as innovation hubs for new products. The drivers of innovations from emerging markets are many-  the easy availability of talent pool, which has transformed countries like India and China as the R&D hubs, unique and sensitive developmental challenges, which required them to develop indigenous solutions and perspectives and capacity of emerging markets to adopt and adapt technologies through technology transfer.

Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) is organised the Seventh Edition of the India Innovation Summit with the theme "Making Bangalore the Innovation Hub of Asia". The success of Bangalore has brought in international & domestic brand presence to this region. Bangalore is seen as the IT hub of India and has witnessed the successful scaling of many innovative ideas.

While innovation continues to be the main source of sustainable competitive advantage, we will explore innovation on a larger canvas where it is not equated with a hot new gadget in the market place but more as the core competitive strategy of any growing organization.

For an innovative idea to be nurtured and developed there is an urgent need for help and mentoring by the experienced industrialists and serial entrepreneurs to set the realistic goals and foster creative environment. The establishment of forums and associations will help in paving the way for continuous development through innovation.

The Summit provided an ideal platform for Indian Industry to understand the various nuances of innovation, the critical role innovation plays in business success and the imperativeness for Indian industry to embed innovation across its spectrum of business activities and processes. The Summit presented the latest trends in the innovation domain, case studies on best practices and experiences highlighting the importance of drawing back the attention of the world towards Bangalore as Innovation / knowledge hub of Asia.
