In the last 15 years, India has witnessed phenomenal growth in most of the sectors. This growth can be attributed to political will, financial reforms and use of advanced technology among the stakeholders. Corporations, local bodies and civil societies collectively have a pivotal contribution to make in promoting good governance practices and hence needs to be given a significant role in the nation’s anti-corruption programs. Towards the same, CII-SR organized a Panel discussion on “Corruption Free India – A Reality” on 12th July 2011 in the Auditorium, Olympia Tech Park, Chennai to obtain the views of the stakeholders on General experiences of corruption and possible solutions; Ideas on reforms – administrative, judicial, police (to curb corruption) and Role of States. The panellists include Mr T T Ashok,Chairman, CII-Southern Region & MD, Taylor Rubber Pvt Ltd; Mr N Vittal, I.A.S (Retd), Former Central Vigilance Commissioner, Government of India; Mr N Gopalaswami I.A.S (Retd), Former Chief Election Commissioner, Government of India; Mr Vijay Anand, President, Fifth Pillar; Mr Shankar Vanavarayar, Chairman Yi National & Executive Director, Sakthi Auto Motors Limited; Ms Prema Desikan, President, Women Entrepreneurship Promotional Association and Mr Sarath Babu, CEO, Foodking Catering Pvt Ltd. Representatives from Corporates, NGOs, Academicians, Retired administrators & Students participated at this panel discussion.
