Introduction of GST is going to have impact on each business concern. It will have immediate as well as far reaching implications on business. The GST Laws as passed by the Parliament raises several pertinent questions whose implications need to be understood by every business concern and prepare for smooth transition to GST. In this background, CII Mysuru & ICSI organised special interactive session on ‘GST Law: Overview, Impact, Challenges & Roadmap’ at private hotel here on Tuesday. Speaking on the occasion G V Krishna Rao said “The date has been fixed and as per the official communication which we have been received from ministry of finance, GST has to be implemented from July 1. As per preparedness is concerned we have conducted outreach and awareness program on GST which was started a year back. Six months back we were trying to market GST but now people are aware about GST.

In GST, as for as department is concerned, three things, legal preparedness, administrative preparedness and technology preparedness. All the legal preparedness will be completed by May 15. With regarding administrative preparedness, the departments going to be reorganized and two zones which we are having as of now that is Mysuru and Bengaluru zone will be merged and will be known as Karnataka Central GST zone which will be headed by Chief Commissioner. By May 15, the administrative related works will get completed. To get acclimatized to the new set up, GST related works will start from June 1 itself. With regarding technology, which is handled by different agencies and headed by CEO, six month back itself they had mentioned they are ready with the technology” added Krishna Rao.

Mr Arjuna Ranga, Chairman, CII Mysuru who also spoke on the occasion said “GST it is going to change all our life. It is like formatting hardisk to get to install new software that you want and start working from ground zero. GST has proven in long term will have huge impact on cultural and ecosystem. If we look at two countries that failed in GST implementation Ukraine and Pakistan, they could not manage cost escalation that had happened which collapsed the entire system. Over the years they have reformed and lot of lessons we have to learn from them”.
