CII Southern region organised the second edition of Poka-Yoke Competition which was held on 17th November 2017 at Hotel The Westin, Velachery Main Road, Chennai

Over the years, Indian organizations have been successfully implementing Poka-Yoke for excellence. Organizations have realized that the basic imperatives to survive in today’s competitive environment need poka-yoke: "mistake - proofing". A Poka -yoke is any mechanism in a lean manufacturing process that helps an equipment operator avoid (yokeru) mistakes (poka). Its purpose is to eliminate product defects by preventing, correcting, or drawing attention to human errors as they occur. Poka -Yoke implies to all employees from the CEO to the assembly line workers of processes in manufacturing, engineering, supporting business processes and management.
In view of this background, the CII Southern Regional Manufacturing Sub-Committee had felt the need to create awareness of the Best Poka – Yoke implemented in the members’ organisation and make them known to all industry across the region. CII Southern region organised the second edition of Poka-Yoke Competition which was held on 17th November 2017 at Hotel The Westin, Velachery Main Road, Chennai. This edition of the Poka-Yoke Competition had received tremendous interest from the CII membership across Southern States with the participation of 75 teams.
The competition have been the great learning experience for all participants, and the comments, suggestions, and inputs from the Jury Expertise had helped companies to improvise their area work at the respective organisation.
The following teams had won the awards under various categories:
• First Place under Large Scale – Manufacturing : CHOLAYIL PVT LTD
• First Place under Large Scale – Service : TVS LOGISTICS SERVICES LTD
• First Place under Medium Scale – Manufacturing : TE CONNECTIVITY INDIA PVT LTD
With more than 230 participants, the event was a great success.
