Kerala Insurance Conclave
Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Kerala organized the Kerala Insurance Conclave on 18 July 2014 at Hotel Le Meridien, Kochi.
The conclave was inaugurated by Mr Radhakrishnan Nair, Member (F&I) Insurance Regulatory & Development Authority of India (IRDA). In his inaugural address he briefed on the significant activities and growth of India’s insurance sector since its inception. He also emphasized on how the FDI has played its part on the strong growth of this sector in recent years.
Apart from the inaugural session, there were 2 plenary sessions and a Panel Discussion on the topics: Insurance Industry – National Perspective; Distribution Channels; Health Insurance in Kerala – Opportunities and Challenges!, which gave deep insight into the insurance sector in India.
Mr Arun Agarwal, India Representative, Lloyd’s India, highlighted on the recent paradigm shift in the way the industry operates today and how it needs to work across the areas of reaching out to new customers and servicing existing ones. Dr Amarnath Ananthanarayanan, Managing Director & CEO, Bharti AXA General Insurance Co. Ltd, Mr Hiren Vora, Chief Distribution Officer, Bajaj Allianz General Insurance Co Ltd, Mr Easwara Narayanan, Chief Operating Officer, Future General India Insurance Co Ltd, addressed on the national perspective of Insurance, revamping its distribution models for efficiency as well as deploying innovative models.
Mr Eswar Natarajan, Sr Vice President & Country Head, Tata AIG General Insurance Company Ltd, discussed on the contribution and importance of distribution channels in insurance industry. Dr C J Philip, Deputy General Manager, New India Assurance Co Ltd, Mr K G Chitrabhanu, Chief Manager, The Federal Bank Ltd, Mr Sohanlal Kadel, President, Insurance Brokers Association of India (IBAI) were among the other panellist
A Panel discussion moderated by Dr Harish Pillai, CEO, Aster Medcity had other panel members including Mr C R Vijayan, Deputy General Manager, Oriental Insurance Co Ltd, Mr V Sajan, Deputy General Manager, United India Insurance Co Ltd, Mr Thomas Mathai, Director, Riya Tour and Travel, had a holistic discussion on the topic Opportunities & Challenges of Health Insurance in Kerala
