The Ministry of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises has constituted a ‘Joint Task Force’ between the Department of Heavy Industry (DHI) and Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) on capital goods sector with an objective to realize potential of domestic capital goods under the ‘Make in India’ theme. The taskforce is chaired by Dr Rajan Katoch, Secretary, Department of Heavy Industry and will take up the issues faced by the industry at a common dialogue platform to address the issues faced by the industry and to evolve a roadmap for Indian capital goods sector. One of the key elements of this process has been to formulate a National Capital Goods Policy. The initial framework for the National Capital Goods Policy has been articulated in a Base Paper for which the taskforce is organizing an interaction with the senior industry leaders and DHI. The taskforce has further constituted 3 sub groups on Trade and Exports, Technology Depth and Demand Creation as part of the policy agenda. The objective of this roundtable was to seek industry inputs on the National Capital Goods Policy and specific suggestions based on the Terms of Reference finalized by the Joint Taskforce. Mr Vishvajit Sahay, Joint Secretary and Mr Sushil Lakra, Industrial Advisor from DHI will joined us for this roundtable and interacted with industry members.
