A day in the life of a daily wager
The central theme of the article published in the The Age Debate of the Asian Age is whether bandhs really help the poor or not. Offering a justification, Ms Nirmala Sitharaman, Spokesperson, BJP is of the view that for an average daily wager, the bandh often becomes the penultimate and necessary mode of protest to air his grievances, while Mr Chandrajit Banerjee, Director General (CII) feels that recourse to such forms of public protest further deprives the poor daily wager of livelihood.
