Yi Delhi Chapter had organized a Panel Discussion on “Waking up to our Collective Responsibilities-A Clear and Present Danger” on Tuesday, 22 January 2013 at Conference Hall, CII Headquarters, Lodhi Road, New Delhi-3.
Dr Kiran Bedi, Retd. IPS and Social Activist, Ms Gagan Singh, CEO-Business and Chairperson-Sri Lanka Operations, Jones Lang Lasalle (JLL) group, Mr Rahul Mehra, Founding Partner, Mehra & Co., Ms Joji S Gill, Strategic HR Director-South Asia, E I DuPont India Pvt. Ltd., Mr Amir Singh Pasrich, Managing Partner, I L A Pasrich & Company and Mr Hindol Sengupta, Senior Editor, Fortune Magazine India & Founder Editor, The Whypoll Foundation were the key speakers of the session.
“We all need to realize our respective responsibilities and work together in a coordinated manner to eradicate the evils out of the society and revolutionise the existing system and build a better India”, shared Dr Kiran Bedi while addressing the Panel Discussion on “Waking up to our Collective Responsibilities”.
Dr Bedi further viewed that “Everyone in the country should get the opportunity to debate on various public policies, like it does in US and Europe”. “The greater responsibility rests with the ‘Youth of India’ and its high time the youngsters realize this and play a more proactive role in transforming the nation”, she further iterated.
Mr Raghu Marwah, Chair-CII-Yi Delhi Chapter, and CA, R N Marwah & Co. introduced Yi as an movement which works by mobilising the youth and promote the attitude of "We Can, We Will” through all its endeavours.
Other key speakers suggested that we need to educate and sensitize all stakeholders at all levels to strengthen and imbibe the basic value system, which has weakened in the recent times. Also use of technology can bring in the desired transparency in the system which would certainly help in achieving the desired change in the system as a whole and we should start it from our own work places.
Empowering women must be a united approach; a cause that requires continued attention and stewardship by all. We all need to augment our efforts for empowering women and enhance their progress. It is our moral, social and constitutional duty to ensure their progress by providing them with equal rights and opportunities.
Therefore, the need of the hour is for us as citizens to understand our responsibilities towards society and do our utmost to enable a safe and secure environment for women. The session suggested that the collective and coordinated efforts are the key to nation’s all round glory with a larger role for youth and the technology.60 participants from all walks of life and from institutes, government, corporate and academia attended the session.
