Confederation of Indian Industry organises Finex 2013

Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Chhattisgarh organized Finex 2013, A conference on Banking, Finance & Capital Markets with a theme of Reviving Economic Growth during its Annual Meeting. Key dignitaries present were Mr Sudhir Deoras, Deputy Chairman, Eastern Region; Mr Ramesh Agrawal, Immediate Past Chairman, CII Chhattisgarh; Mr Manish Gupta, Chairman CII Chhattisgarh and Dr Saugat Mukherjee, Regional Director, CII Eastern Region. The Technical Session was moderated by Mr P K Jain, Chief Financial Officer, Sarda Energy & Minerals Limited on Personal Wealth Creation through Capital Market & Banking & Finance for Inclusive Growth. The financial crisis that hit the world economy in October 2008 continues to keep the world on the brink. The sovereign debt crisis in several European countries in the euro zone has serious implications. The Indian economy is also passing through difficult times. The exchange rate of the rupee, the commercial banks’ NPA levels, India's growth rate, the negative growth of trade, rising corruption and the policy paralysis are all causes for worry. During his welcome address Mr Ramesh Agrawal said that A vibrant and healthy market for financial services is essential for economic performance and growth. With the increased level of globalization, the importance of financial institutions has grown but a number of global risks have emerged. The on-going crisis raises serious questions about the stability of banks and other financial institution as well as their ability to appropriately supply finance to the real sector. In his address Mr Sudhir Deoras said that a rebound of the economy is expected to be a gradual process. In these times the corporate sector looks at the Reserve Bank of India for the much needed monetary stimulus to revive the moderating growth. Mr Manish Gupta thanked the Sponsors Bhilai Enginnering Corporation, Hira Group, Beekay Engineering Corporation and Central Bank of India for their continuous support. He said that Economy of Chhattisgarh boasts of a thriving infrastructural support which is aptly enhanced by multifarious industries. While agriculture and power are the key drivers of growth in the state, real estate, banking & finance and tourism sector are the other allied industrial zones that collectively form a strong economic platform for Chhattisgarh. The Conference covered topics related to Capital Market & Investor Protection, Corporate Debt Restructuring, Scope of Retail Credit & Role of Commercial Bank, 'Currency Derivatives' : A Hedging tool for Corporates, Opportunities for Industries in SME Sector.
