Innovate to find Solutions for problems, Students told

Coimbatore:9 & 10 March 2012 "Out of the seven billion people on the planet, 40 per cent do not enjoy the basic facilities like Water, Energy and Healthcare. Hence science has not reached these people even though they have an equal right to all these," Baldev Raj, president - Research, PSG Institutions, said here on friday. He was speaking at the third edition of "INNOVATOR 2011" of the Confederation of Indian Industry, with the theme 'Think Different, Think Big' at PSG College of Technology. He said the event was an initiative to ignite and nurture innovation among college students.
 
Mr Baldev Raj, President, Research, PSG Institutions, Said. There was no point in blaming any system. No country had been transformed by Governments. It was people who transformed the country, he added. Mindset of an innovator Should be a combination of curiosity and passion. Mr Sukumar Rajagopal, Senior Vice President, Chief Information Officer and Head-Innovation, Cognizant Technology Solutions India p Ltd, said innovation could be categorised into idea-driven innovation and problem-driven innovation.
 
Mr C R Swaminathan, Chairman, CII Innovator Award 2011, said translation of new ideas into value generation was not a simple process. Innovation was the driving force for the sustainability of the future. But Indians had been traditionally innovation users rather than innovation contributors.
