Session on “Top Secrets to remain Healthy and Young” By Dr. Shikha Sharma on Friday, 25thJanuary 2013 at Ludhiana

On the occasion of celebrating 10 years of Young Indians, Yi Ludhiana Chapter has organised an interactive session with Dr. Shikha Sharma, a renowned nutritionist and dietician, on “Top secrets to remain healthy and young” at DMC, Ludhiana.  The main objective was to make participants aware of the healthy life style practices that one should follow in his/her daily life. Session was well attended by 75 participants from all across Ludhiana including members of Confederation of Indian Industry, Young Indians Ludhiana Chapter, among few students. Along with Dr Shikha Sharma, present on the occasion were Mr Gaurav Munjal, Chapter Chair, Young Indians (Ludhiana Chapter), Ms Sifti Riat, Co Chair, Young Indians (Ludhiana Chapter),  and Ms Sandeep Riat, Chairperson (Cii Ludhiana Zonal Council)
 
 “Eating more and more of vegetables, fruits, cereals, sprouts and natural stuff, making healthy food look interesting & full of fun, exercising daily or doing ‘yoga’ for at least 30 minutes, decreasing dependency on chemicals and refined & genetically modified oils and using more of cold pressed oils ( kachhi Dhaani ka tel) & olive oils, having light and early dinners, drinking lots of water, reducing intake of fried food and  avoiding sugar as much as possible are the keys to staying fit and live a healthy and long life”, shared Dr Shikha Sharma, Chairperson, CII Yi Health vertical.
 
She highlighted that Ayurveda is a vast science and a knowledge bank of a long and healthy living and wellness and not just limited to curing diseases. It comprises good eating habits as well as breathing habits. “Deep breathing is very critical to keep healthy.
 
Regarding the use of chemicals in fruits and food these days, she said that “Our bodies have a metabolism to throw such chemicals and toxins out. But for this, we need to keep our liver healthy and fit. This is possible by reducing taking 20 ml Aloe Vera juice and 5 ml Aamla juice daily. Drinking lemon water early in the morning also helps de-toxicate liver. Drinking of alcohol should be avoided”.
 
She further added, We strongly believe in the body’s ability to heal itself if properly supported through right choices of food, natures store house of energy and healing power i.e. herbs, positive attitude toward life , and by following appropriate lifestyle practices. She  also stressed that our thoughts plays a very important role in our day to day life. Its because of our thoughts, we can make impossible look possible. Positivity not only helps you to stay happy and healthy but also gives you strength to face any challenging situation patiently.
