Chandigarh Police retains CII Corporate Cricket Cup

Chandigarh Police defeated J W Marriot in an exciting final to clinch the trophy of the CII Corporate Cricket Cup, organised by Confederation of Indian Industry at DAV Public School, Sector 8, here today.
 
J W Marriot, while batting first, were bundled out for a paltry 119 in 18.5 overs. Shahbaz Khan batted well and topped the team’s score board with 34 runs off 23 balls. His innings included 2 towering sixes and three hits to the fence. Rohal Paliwal chipped in with 13 off 16 balls including 2 fours.

From Chandigarh Police, Parminder bowled brilliantly and took 3 wickets yielding 28 runs in his 4 overs. Ramandeep and Jaswinder took 2 wickets each.

In reply, Chandigarh Police batted brilliantly and achieved the target, scoring 123 / 4 in 17.2 overs, with 6 wickets to spare, thereby lifting the CII Corporate Cricket Cup for the second time in a row.
 
Ramandeep top scored with 33 runs off 38 balls, studded with 4 fours and a six while Satnam chipped in with a fine knock of 24 runs off 33 balls hitting 2 fours.

From J W Marriot, Anand Singh took 2 wickets yielding 6 runs in his 2 overs. Abhilash Menon and Prakash Jha picked up one wicket apiece.
 
Mr R P Upadhyaya, IGP and Mr Alok Kumar, DIG, Chandigarh presented the trophies to the winners team, which incidentally turned out to be the Chandigarh Police only. He congratulated the players from all 24 teams for playing fine cricket in true spirit of the game during the last 50 days. He also congratulated CII for holding a very well planned & organised tournament.
 
Mr Pikender Pal Singh, Regional Director, Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) NR shared that “It has always been the endeavour of CII to work towards an all-round growth & development of people both in the corporate sector as well as in the society. Our aim of holding this tournament was to help corporates learn the art of working as a team, to inculcate a never say die spirit, to learn to play as a cohesive unit and coordinate well with each other to achieve desired results”. He thanked all the teams for their good participation and also the members of the technical  committee and promised to make it a regular feature as requested by all the teams.
