Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) & Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) Chandigarh Chapter organized a Training Programme on Green Building Rating Systems to impart knowledge on Green Building concepts, IGBC Green New Buildings rating system and share best practices in Green Buildings here today. 

“Indian Green Building Council’s (IGBC) rating systems launched since 2007 had made rapid strides in the Green Building sector. These rating systems have been successfully applied in India in as many as 2,635 buildings, till date with a footprint of 2.13 Billion sq.ft. Many Government, corporate, builders & developers in India have taken lead in constructing Green Buildings. With the growing demand for Green Buildings, there is a need to enhance the knowledge of building professionals on Green Building concepts & equip them on the Green Building rating Systems”, said Mr A K Jaiswal, Chairman, IGBC Chandigarh chapter & Managing Director, Hindustan Infrastructure Inc. 

“A green building is one which uses less water, optimizes energy efficiency, conserves natural resources, generates less waste and provides healthier spaces for occupants, as compared to a conventional building. Considering the tremendous benefits that it offers, green building concept is gaining major importance in India” shared Mr Jit Kumar Gupta, Co-Chairman, IGBC Chandigarh Chapter & Chief Town Planner, Sahara Prime City Limited. 

He further added that till date, IGBC has conducted several Green Building Training programme across India and trained nearly 20,000 professionals on green building concepts. 

This unique training programme of IGBC covered various approaches and strategies, to create a sustainable built environment & broadly covered five modules viz Sustainable Sites, Water Efficiency, Energy Efficiency, Materials & Resources & Indoor Environmental Quality. The programme also included sharing of illustration and successful case studies of projects across the country.
