CII EXCON 2015 to aid faster Infrastructure development in India

22 countries to participate at EXCON 2015 - South Asia’s largest exhibition of Construction Equipment from 25-29 November

Country pavilions from China, Finland, Germany, Italy, South Korea, Spain, Turkey and UK


Bengaluru (Karnataka): November 24, 2015. Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) is oranising  EXCON 2015 - South Asia’s largest exhibition of Construction Equipment (CE) from  25-29 November 2015 at the Bangalore International Exhibition Centre, Bengaluru.   With the theme on ‘Make India - Building Infrastructure, Building the Nation', the eighth edition of the premier event for the CE industry will see the participation of over 800 exhibitors including 270 overseas companies.

EXCON 2015, scheduled to be held at the Bangalore International Exhibition Centre (BIEC), Bangalore from November 25-29, 2015 is spread across 2,20,000 square meters of display area.   The 5-day exhibition  would witness over 200 product launches  and  would attract more than 35000 business visitors from across the globe.

Shri Nitin Gadkari, Hon'ble Minister of Road Transport & Highways and Shipping, Government of India will be the Chief Guest and inaugurate the Excon 2015 Exhibition at 1700 Hrs at Bangalore International Exhibition Centre, Bengaluru.


Mr Vipin Sondhi, Chairman, EXCON 2015 and Managing Director and CEO, JCB India Limited says,  "The scope and reach of EXCON has been growing over the years and today we see the greatest number of industry and visitor participation, making EXCON 2015 the biggest ever exhibition of CE not just in India but also in South-East Asia. The important feature of Excon 2015 is that all the players in the Construction Equipment space will be available at the event combined with a record number of overseas companies. There will be participation from 22 countries with country pavilions from China, Finland, Germany, Italy, South Korea, Spain, Turkey and UK".

Mr  Sondhi said that CII has been promoting “Make in India” for the manufacturing sector through various initiatives and Excon  plays a key role in positioning India as a global hub for construction equipment manufacturing.   With a current size of USD 2.8 billion, the Indian construction equipment industry is expected to grow to USD           5

billion by 2019-20. The Aftersales spares market is about USD 800 million and is a major source of income and employment opportunity for SSI manufacturers and service providers, thus contributing substantially to economic growth, he added.


The state of the art machinery with latest technology to be showcased  at the event would fulfil the need for advanced machinery for accelerated development of infrastructure in the country.   The event also focuses on imparting skills and creating the need to give job opportunities to the poor, towards ensuring inclusive growth.

EXCON 2015 would also have a large presence of SMEs in the component and aggregate manufacturing, showcasing India’s potential as a preferred outsourcing destination for construction equipment manufacturing.  With the participation of almost all leading players in the construction equipment industry, the exhibition would aim at facilitating faster and sustainable development of infrastructure and related sectors in India.   Some of the factors include;

•         Speed up infrastructure development in an ecologically sustainable manner
•         Enhance rural connectivity & development for all inclusive growth
•         Position India as an outsourcing destination for component & aggregate manufacturing
•         Focus on urban renewal by improving the quality of life in fast growing Indian cities

ICEMA, an affiliate body of the CII, will host a 2-day Conference on ‘Rebooting Infrastructure’ with the theme  – Build India for a Better Tomorrow coinciding with Excon 2015 on 26-27 November 2015 at BIEC, Bangalore.   The conference would deliberate on key challenges in accelerating growth of infrastructure  with focus on sustainable development.  Other focus areas of the Conference include; Make in India – Components & Aggregates Manufacturing;  Easing regulatory policies for successful implementation of projects;  Construction Equipment Financing; Upgradation of Technology; Skills & Manpower Development.


ICEMA and CII are bringing out  a  Report on Indian Construction Equipment Industry  - Vision 2020. The report  will be  released on 25th November by   Shri Nitin Gadkari, Hon’ble Minister of Road Transport & Highways and Shipping, Government of India   at the inaugural ceremony of EXCON 2015.   The key features of the report would be (a) state of infrastructure industry in India (b) current demand scenario of  Indian construction equipment (c) critical issues faced by the ICE industry (d)  future outlook and projected market size of equipment by 2020, and (e)  the way forward on the critical issues faced by the ICE industry in India.
