Industry Talent Enabler Confluence 2016, Jammu & Kashmir

Jammu and Kashmir State Rural Livelihood Mission (JKSRLM) in association with Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) organised a 2 days “Industry Talent enabler confluence, 2016” starting on 25th of November, 2016 at Convention Centre in Jammu, which has been concluded today.

The confluence experienced the launch of Re-modelled Project Himayat, under which the Government of India, under the umbrella of DDU-GKY has taken up an ambitious mission of training and placing over 1 Lacs candidates from the rural parts of J&K.

The confluence, which experienced an august gathering of Project Implementation Agencies from the various parts of the country along with senior industry representatives from corporates like Bluestar, L&T, V-Mart etc was inaugurated by Mr Abdul Haq Khan, Hon’ble Minister, Rural Development & Panchayati Raj, Government of J&K. He inaugurated the Project Himayat Helpdesk in the Convention Centre and announced it open for the interested industry representatives and PIA’s. 

Over 200 students who are getting trained under Project Himayat attended the 2 days confluence.

Later on, Hon’ble Chief Minister, Ms Mehbooba Mufti addressed the audience and shared the vision and mission of the government for the skill development. In a very interactive meeting, she invited suggestions from the audience and involved youth participants to share their views for the betterment of skills and entrepreneurial eco-system. She invited CII to collaborate with Government of J&K in drafting a roadmap and implementation of a startup ecosystem in the state.

Dr G N Qasba, MD, JKSRLM, gave a very informative presentation on the Remodeled Project Himayat and answered queries of the audience. Mr Kifayat Rizvi, Secretary, Rural Development, Government of J&K, in his address briefed the audience about the history and achievements of Himyat. Mr Abdul Haq Khan, appreciated the vision and efforts of Hon’ble Chief Minister towards bringing the youth of valley back to the mainstream and admired her commitment towards the betterment of the state.

Mr Anil Subramaniam, Director, Skills, Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India, appreciated the role of Government of J&K in Project Himayat and briefed audience on the focus of Government of India towards J&K in skill development. From industry, Mr D H Roy, Vice President, Blue Star, Maj. Gen M A Naik, Senior Advisor, L&T Infrastructure shared their views on skill development, with industry’s perspective and assured their full support to Project Himayat. Maj Gen Naik stressed on creating jobs for youth in the state.

Mr Rahul Sahai, Vice Chairman, CII J&K State Council, Mr Parvez Ahmed Nengroo, Chairman, J&K Bank, Mr Sanjay Puri, Past Chairman, CII J&K State Council, Mr Gourav Mahajan, Head, CII J&K State Office, Mr Rajesh Sharma, Managing Director, SRA Foods & Beverages, and Mr Kamal Sharma, Director, Savefirst Investinsure Services Ltd were also present along with other dignitaries.
