Mr Sachit Jain, Vice Chairman & Managing Director of Vardhman Special Steels Ltd. took charge as the Chairman of CII Northern Region for the year 2018-19. Mr Sameer Gupta, Chairman & Managing Director of Jakson Group has been elected as the Deputy Chairman.
A statement issued by CII said that new incumbents were elected during the first meeting of the newly elected Regional Council members held in New Delhi today. Mr Jain will head the CII Northern Region which comprises Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Delhi, Rajasthan and Union Territory Chandigarh.
Elaborating on the priorities for the 2018-19, Mr Jain said, “Our initiatives for the year would primarily focus towards building business friendly policy and regulatory framework in the northern region states, Ease of Doing Business, Industry Competitiveness, Startups and Entrepreneurship Development, Engaging Society and Expanding Reach to realize the full potential of Enterprising North.”
Mr Sachit Jain is also the Joint Managing Director of Vardhman Textiles Ltd., the flagship company of the Vardhman Group.Mr Jain joined Vardhman Special Steels Ltd (VSSL) in 2010 as the Managing Director. Mr Jain has also served as the Co-Chairman of CII National Committee on Textiles and the Chairman of CII Himachal Pradesh State Council, besides serving in various other capacities at the Confederation.
He is a B.Tech (Electrical) from IIT, New Delhi and an MBA (Gold Medallist) from IIM, Ahmedabad. He has also studied Financial Management from Stanford, USA and is a graduate of the OPM programme of the Harvard Business School.
Mr Sameer Gupta is the Chairman and Managing Director of Jakson Group -one of the Country’s leading diversified power companies. The group is today a business conglomerate with three business verticals – Generating Set Business, Solar Business and EPC Business. Jakson Group also entered the Hospitality business in the year 2012.
Mr Gupta has been associated with the Confederation at Northern Region in various capacities. He has had Chaired the CII Uttar Pradesh State Council and currently also Chairs the Indian Green Building Council, Uttar Pradesh Chapter as well as Regional Committee on Family Business Network for CII Northern Region, the CII statement said.
