Brief Description:

Chhattisgarh is India’s one of the youngest and fastest growing states. It is truly called ‘Land of Opportunities’. It is rich in mineral resources like iron ore, coal, limestone, tin and bauxite. It has a favorable industrial relations environment and abundant power and water for industrial needs. Industrial land is also available at reasonable rates.

There are good health and education facilities in the state. Bhilai is a major centre of education. With a number of Engineering Colleges, Polytechnics being present in the state, trained engineers and technicians are available for the industries.

The state has got many reputed colleges including several degree colleges and Engineering institutes like NIT (Raipur). The state has also got many schools like Government High School, St Paul's High School, Madhavrao Sapre High schools etc. There is also an Ayurveda College present in the state.

Educational institutions set-up by the state government are the prevalent education providers in the state from elementary schools to degree colleges. Chhattisgarh has got seven government recognized universities.

While the rapidly developing economy would be creating employment opportunities, it is imperative that the state of Chhattisgarh produces not only enough skilled people to meet the requirement, but also enough ‘Ready-to-Deploy’ skilled resources.

CII undertook this survey to estimate the skill set requirement for the year 2015, identify the functional and behavioral skill set gap between the future demand of manpower and the current availability in the state and to recommend steps to address the skill set gaps identified.
