India is home to more than 50 million Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSMEs),which represent diverse types of business, and are spread across the length and breadth of the country. They contribute about 45% of the total manufacturing output and 40% of the exports from the nation. Yet, despite the sector’s strategic importance for industrialization and employment generation, MSMEs in India face several challenges.While the 14th Global MSME Business Summit 2017 explored ways of ‘Fostering Growth through Partnerships,’ this feature story looks at the road ahead for MSMEs in India.
