CII takes key initiatives to train and support Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) to help them become productive manpower resources. For this, a National Group on Special Ability was constituted to: Place disability on corporate agenda Explore & promote employment /self-employment opportunities for the target group. Ability Forums/Core Groups have been set up with corporates, NGOs, training institutes, government officials, experts and persons with special abilities. The CII Corporate Code on Disability has been circulated among CII members for adoption. The objective is to ensure 1% of their workforce is drawn from the pool of trained PWDs. CII has recruited people with disabilities as employees. The Confederation of Indian Industry Ability Forum has been working towards mainstreaming people with disabilities into the workforce by sensitizing industry members, facilitating employment of people with disabilities and improving access to services and facilities. CII encourages its members to donate financial resources and support infrastructure to NGOs that support the development of PWDs. The team also brings out report, manual and films on the subject.
