Technology Division of CII aims to play an active role in the CII's Mission on Sustainable Growth. CII initiated its activities in the area of technology from the first quarter of the 90s (during early 90s). Today technology is one of the thrust areas of CII along with other key areas such as Quality, Energy and Environment etc. The primary focus is to bring Technology to Centre stage and make these aspects as a movement in the Indian Industry. Technology Division is equipped with highly experienced professionals & networked with a large number of professional Institutions and experts in the country and overseas. The Technology Division works in tandem with Indian industry to develop & promote innovative technologies and to establish the right linkages for successful technology absorption and commercialisation.

The Global Innovation & Technology Alliance (GITA), in collaboration with the Department of Science & Technology, Government of India, Government of Alberta, Canada, Government of Ontario, Canada and International Technology Partnerships Canada (ISTPCanada) are pleased to invite you to participate in the India-Canada Matchmaking Mission in Water Technologies on 8 – 10 April 2013 in New Delhi, India.
 
The Indian capital goods sector, the core of the manufacturing sector, requires attention to technology, SME support, skill development, and import substitution to meet the targets of the National Manufacturing Policy. CII Jharkhand Council has been making concerted efforts in the direction of bringing growth and development in the State right from its inception in the year 2000. The Council facilitated Department of Industries, Govt. of Jharkhand in coming up with an Industrial Policy of Jharkhand in the year 2001. The Council also partnered Govt. in successfully organizing Udyog Mela 2007 in Ranchi & facilitating Jharkhand pavilion in IITF 2008(India international Trade Fair) at New Delhi. In order to enhance the competitiveness of industry members, CII Jharkhand Council continues to organise number of training programmes, major Conferences, seminars, workshops on Manufacturing, Agro & Food Processing, Environment, Mining & Coal, Social Development & Community Affairs, Behavioral Skills & Information Technology, as well as interactions with key Govt. Officials at Ranchi ,Jamshedpur and also at Bokaro. The Council recently called on the Hon’ble Chief Minister & Deputy Chief Minister of Jharkhand and presented them with CII Vision document : Jharkhand @ 2022, a Sustainable Vision document encompassing hope & aspiration of the people of Jharkhand. The insight of the document is aimed at enabling the key decision makers to plan and implement findings at the grass root level, leading to sustained growth and development of the State.

CII’s National Committee on Design is the reference point in India on Design and works closely with the stakeholders for strategizing and implementing all the Design initiatives in the country.
 
CII’s National Committee on Technology was constituted way back in early nineties and the Chairman of CII’s first National Committee on Technology was Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam. CII works in various areas like technology promotion, facilitating Industrial R&D and Industry’s investment in R&D, facilitating partnership developments for technology/R&D collaborations, capacity building and facilitating technology exports, providing advisory and technical services for implementing technology projects benefiting society and common man all towards creating innovation eco-system in the country and many more.
 
A not-for-profit society (under establishment) jointly promoted by CII and the Department of Science & Technology for implementing India’s designated bilateral Industrial R&D fund for supporting industries in R&D and International Partnership Development Activities.
 
TEDO, a unique Public – Private Partnership project between Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR), Ministry of Science and Technology, Supported by Ministry of Commerce to enhance market linked technology competitiveness of the Indian Industry. The main objective is to promote Indian Technical Know How, Technology Intensive Products /Services/Projects in global markets. Presently TEDO is focusing in Capability building to enhance export competitiveness & Facilitating Market Access for 120 Indian SME’s in six focus sectors. (Automotive Components, Process Plant and Machinery, Casting and Forging, Engineering Services, Agro and Food Processing and Dies and Mould).
 
Confederation of Indian Industry in partnership with the Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India has been organizing the annual flagship event “Technology Summit and Technology Platform” annually with an objective to promote technology tie-ups, joint ventures and investments to and from the “Partner Countries”. This has developed into the largest technology event in the country with widespread participation from the highest level of Government, Industry and Academia from both India and “Partner Country”. The Partner Country of each Summit is decided in consultation with the Department of Science & Technology, Government of India and is based on interest between the two countries to strengthen bilateral S&T cooperation and high technology trade. The two governments also announce joint initiatives during the Summit.

CII Awards & Recognitions
 
The CII Cotton Awards were instituted by CII. Vardhman & few other textile companies supported the silver salvars/mementos which were presented to the selected farmers for achieving high yield in cotton production alongwith some cash awards. The jury comprised of a few technical people from industry and PAU.
 
The Confederation of Indian Industry (SR) through its Education Sub-Committee, launched the first edition of Innovator 2009 on 12th February 2010 at Hotel Le Royal Meridien, Chennai. The Sub Committee initiated this unique event this year under the Chairmanship of Dr R Mahadevan, Group Technology Director, India Pistons Ltd. Innovator is a competition aimed at identifying and showcasing the innovative ideas of college students from Technical, Business and Social streams in the Southern Region. It is a three stage project centric contest designed to test the technical/business and social concepts, presentation and creative skills of the participants.
