Trade: International and Domestic Commercial Arbitration

CII organized Online Master Class on "International and Domestic Commercial Arbitration" on 25 January, 2013.

This Master Class dealt with drafting of an effective Arbitration Clause in contract with emphasis on choice of law, seat and procedural rules, Court intervention for Interim Measures, Appointment and Removal of Arbitrators, Challenge and Enforcement of Arbitration Awards and comparative analysis of Ad Hoc and Institutional Arbitration. It helped to learn about latest developments in field of Arbitration with focus on recent judicial pronouncements and proposed amendments to the law relating to Arbitration in India. It was also benefited the participants to understand the critical procedural and practical aspects involved in resolving disputes through Arbitration. Master Class was designed for In-House Legal Counsels, Lawyers, General Counsels, Members of Legal and Secretarial Departments of Companies, Company Secretaries and Chartered Accountants.

Mr Karia has read Masters of Law in International Commercial Arbitration from London School of Economics and he specializes in International and Domestic Commercial Arbitrations and Corporate Litigations. He has successfully represented various Indian and multi-national companies in International and Domestic Arbitrations before Ad-hoc Arbitration Tribunals as well as Arbitrations under the Rules of Singapore International Arbitration Centre, London Court of International Arbitration, International Chamber of Commerce and UNCITRAL. He has been involved in landmark cases before the High Courts and Supreme Court of India relating to interpretation of Arbitration Law. He has extensively written and is a regular speaker on aspects of Arbitration at various International and domestic seminars and conferences.
