4th National Standards Conclave

The Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India in collaboration with Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Export Inspection Council of India, the Bureau of Indian Standards, the National Accreditation Board for Certification bodies (NABCB), and the Centre for WTO Studies organized the 4th National Standards Conclave with the theme “Evolving a Comprehensive National Strategy for Standards: Sectoral and Regional Inclusiveness” from 1-2 May 2017 at New Delhi.

Hon’ble Commerce and Industry Minister, Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman and Ms. Rita A. Teaotia, Secretary, Department of Commerce inaugurated the Conclave on 1 May 2017.

Every year, the National Standards Conclave is organized to generate awareness amongst industry members and other stakeholders about the importance of "Standards" in the changing scenario of Global Trade. This year, the conclave expanded its scope, with a focus on evolving a ‘National Strategy for Standards’, a pressing need for a large economy like India.

The two day conclave was well attended by senior officials from Central and State Governments, standards setting bodies, export promotion agencies, and manufacturing and services providing organizations together with international and national experts in related fields.
