a) FLAG 2013 kicked off on December 20, 2012 at Janson Institute of technology, Coimbatore with healthy participation from 16 colleges, 650 students and 6 companies.
b) Last year two FLAG events were run during the main hiring cycle, with a focus on central Tamil Nadu. These two events garnered a total of 600+ offers. This year there are more than a dozen FLAG events planned, commencing with first event in December and continuing all the way to October next year. FLAG coverage this year is also much broader with plans to create access to the entire Southern region covering major parts of Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka.
c) The inauguration was graced by representative from WAPCO, Hirotec, Efftronics, Muthoot FinCorp and Sutherland. FLAG was declared open by Mr.Venugopal, Vice-President and Head, Robert Bosch and this is what he shared with the participants “FLAG is an excellent model for Tier 2 and Tier 3 recruiting, as it improves the efficiency by which companies meet students they want to hire”. He also expounded the need for students to improve three core skills required for successfully starting the career – technical skills, social skills and consumption skills.
d) The students then proceeded to their assigned Lecture Halls as indicated in their Hall ticket to take up the company’s own tests. Companies were allowed to seamlessly follow their own recruitment process which included written test, online test, group discussions, technical & HR Interviews in person & through video conferencing.
e) Of the 650 students who gathered together, approximately 100+ were shortlisted for final rounds of discussions, 30+ students were made offer on the same day with core engineering companies like WABCO. Yet even for those that were not shortlisted, this FLAG event gave them an early start to be prepared for being placed this year.
f) According to Ambalavanan Ramachandran, COO, EmployabilityBridge – “Every student who attended this FLAG event has got a real sense of their strengths and weaknesses and what they need to work on to get placed this year. We’ve designed FLAG to give every student the opportunity to get placed, if not in this FLAG, then the next, or the one after”.
g) With graduation looming around the corner, Employability Bridge and CII hope to make a big difference this year, to not only bring down the cost of hiring, but increase the success rate for both Companies and Students by at least 10X.
CII in partnership with Employability Bridge aimed at providing access to corporate amongst students from Tier 2 & 3 cities using the most efficient model called FLAG. FLAG is a unique process that runs a multi-college placement process, in a single location leveraging EmployabilityBridge platform. Unlike a Job-Fair, FLAG intelligently allows Corporate to publish their opportunity, shortlist students and run their own hiring process at the event, leveraging EmployabilityBridge platform. For 2013, we’re excited to announce an around the year calendar of FLAG events (Click Here to see the calendar -http://employabilitybridge.com/CorporateRegistration.php). Across just these 9 FLAG events, corporate will access students from at least 50-100 colleges across South-India in just 9 days – a much higher number than they can achieve going from college to college.
