I am pleased to inform you that CII is organizing a digital Conference on ‘Multimodal Transportation-Aiming towards last mile connectivity’ on 29 September, 2020. The conference aims to highlight the key actions that are required to create a vibrant and efficient transportation system covering modes like roads, rail, sea and inland waterways and air.
Efficient end-to-end transportation of goods have been one of the major challenges in India, primarily due to the disconnect between different modes of transportation and storage facilities. With the government preparing to come out with a National Logistic Policy, one of the key areas to focus will be to look at a multi-modal approach, that would include interconnected terminals, efficient and well-designed storage facilities for cargo and containers; efficient operational and maintenance protocols, effective use of technology and above all creating an optimal-modal mix of transportation focused on last mile connectivity.
The conference Multimodal Transportation-Aiming towards last mile connectivity will focus on identifying key infrastructure challenges that inhibit growth of transportation and logistics sector. It will also deliberate upon potential solutions which are required for the development of multi-modal transportation across the country.
