TAF and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) have undertaken a partnership to donate and distribute five container shipments of books. The first targeted universities were in Northeastern states; the second educational institutions in Bihar, Orissa, and Jharkhand, along with Osmania University, Hyderabad and Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi; and the third underprivileged schools in the Eastern States of Bihar, Orissa, Jharkhand, and West Bengal. The fourth and fifth shipments targeted the five Southern States: Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Puducherry, and Tamil Nadu.
These books pertain to different verticals including Science, World History, Environment, General Knowledge & Literature and are meant for school students to enhance their GK and language skills
CII has partnering since 2008 when the first container load of 10208 University-level books was received at CII, Kolkata for distribution of higher institutions in all the 8 North Eastern States. And again a container of 11619 University-level books was received at CII, Kolkata in 2009 for distribution in three Eastern States of Orissa, Bihar and Jharkhand. And third container of 4615 children’s level books was received at CII, Kolkata for distribution in three Eastern States.
Partnership between CII Southern Region, Chennai & TAF commenced in 2011 with two containers of 25271 University-level & School level books for distribution in five Southern States.
In 2012 we received two containers of 16613 University-level & School level books for distribution in five Southern States.
In 2013 we received two containers of 25212 Teachers’ edition books for distribution in five Southern States.
In 2014 we received four trucks of 206604 primary school level books. The campaign would cover more than 300000 students of 1000 schools in the States of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Puducherry and Tamil Nadu. These books are distributed to enhance the GK and language skills of children.
So far CII has handled and distributed 300142 University-level and Children’s books. Particularly CII SR handled 273700 books for distribution to underprivileged schools in five Southern States of India.
