Mysuru: We spend health for wealth and afterwards we spend wealth for health said HH Swami Shantivratanandaji Maharaj of Sri Ramakrishna Ashrama, Mysuru.

Delivering keynote address during Corporate Wellness Conference 2018 on theme ‘Wellness and Wellbeing for Happy Workplace’ organised by Confederation of Indian Industry at Hotel Radisson Blu here on Thursday he said “We have money, have flats, ATM with full of money but most of us we are not peaceful. Due to more involvement in work unable to spend quality time with family, friends and relatives which is the basic problem for most of the young Indians. We spend health for wealth and afterwards we spend wealth for health. So we have to learn art of living. How can we achieve wellness? Wellness or wellbeing is a choice made by us. So our attitude, dedication, commitment, hardwork, smartness and our approach towards life and towards society dictate our wellness”.

He also mentioned that we are always busy in reaction but not in action. “Due to lack of vision, lack of group work & team work and lack of action we are unable to progress much. If we can self responsible, committed and busy in action we can grow leaps and bounce. Deliberate attempt and effort to be well then by being well you can extend to family, society and country at large” added Shantivratanandaji Maharaj.

N Muthukumar, Chairman CII, Karnataka who also spoke on the occssaion said “India is sixth largest economy in the world and by 2025 it will be third largest country in the world. Going forward there are disturbing trends, in terms of people, India’s competitiveness is no more competitive. When compare to China, our productivity is just one third of China. Hence if we want to be good, we want to make sure how to balance work. Wellness is also one among the solution for improving our competitiveness”.

Arjun Ranga, Chairman, CII Mysuru said “Wellness is actually a state of complete Physical, Mental and Social well being. Wellness eight dimension which includes Physical, Emotional, Intelectual, Emotional, Spiritual, Environment, Occupation and Finance. Almost 67 percent of companies are looking at one of these dimensions to address wellness. Only one company that is NASA is looking at all dimension of wellness. Wellness ensures not only wellbeing of employees but also enables to increase production and good environment in the organization”.

Dr Lakshminarayana Shenoy, Assistant Director, State Ayurveda Reseaerch Centre, Mysuru who also spoke on the occasion briefed about various incentives from AYUSH available to industries. As there are just five industries who are into manufacturing medicines, he called industrialists to venture into medicines manufacturing industry. Dr KSMS Raghavarao, Director, CFTRI –CSIR mentioned that holistic approach for health is important.

Dr. Raghava Rao, Director, CFTRI spoke about the need of good food habits and change in life style for the wellbeing of the people. Nutritious and fresh foods should be on priority to maintain the Wellness.

During the daylong conference, had session on ‘How to align your wellness pgrogramme to your business strategy and steps to implement corporate wellness programme’. During the session discussion on ‘Why and how employee wellbeing should be in its long term business strategy? Session also focused on an organizational initiative including strategic, systematic and sustainable strategies and tools necessary to align a health management or wellness strategy with the business strategy; thus creating a thriving and sustainable organization. Yogi Sri Srinivas Arka has spoken about the Intuitive Intelligence Programme, which leads to Inner Wellness and happiness. Yogacharya, K Raghavendra R Pai also gave brief yoga tips for the participants who had not only come from various industries but also from various educational institutions. Dr. A Sreekumar, Chairman, Wellness Solutions Pvt Ltd, Dr. Poornima Krishnamurthy, Driector, Prajna Kuteera, Dr. Anil Sangli, Neurosurgeon were the other speakers at the conference
