GBC21 to focus Net Zero – Buildings and Built environment More than 80 eminent speakers will discuss industry best practices at the 3-day virtual conference & expo will display more than 500 green products & technologies

CII’s Indian Green Building Council will host the 19th edition of ‘Green Building Congress (GBC21)’ on 18, 19 & 20 November 2021. The 3-day conference will be held virtually on CII HIVE platform. The theme for Green Building Congress 2021 is ‘Net Zero - Buildings and Built Environment’.

Sharing his views of the occasion, Mr V Suresh, Chairman CII-IGBC, said “IGBC's Green Building Congress has been a springboard for advancing the green building movement in India, since 2001. The 19th edition of 'Green Building Congress' is scheduled to be held between 18 - 20 November 2021 on CII HIVE virtual platform. This event would serve as a platform to discuss, debate, share perspectives and accelerate the adoption of Net Zero concept. I am glad to share that World Green Building Council (WorldGBC) is a supporting partner for this flagship event, that has a global network of around 70 countries leading the transformation of the built environment, to make it healthier and more sustainable.

Mr Gurmit Singh Arora, Vice Chairman CII-IGBC in his views added that “The three-day international conference would have active participation from 10 countries through their respective green building councils, including Australia, Canada, Chile, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Korea, Polish, Peru, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Philippines and Vietnam. More than 80 eminent National & International speakers will converge at the event, covering a wide array of subjects in green built environment & their experiences. This offers delegate, a unique opportunity to learn about international best practices in green buildings”, he added.

The conference would also be graced by Mr Jamshyd N Godrej, Past President, CII & Chairman, CII-Sohrabji Godrej Green Business Centre. 

While sharing his views about the event, Mr Godrej said “We are witnessing a global movement that emphasises the need to be Net zero by 2050 and developing countries such as India will have a key role to play in this mission. Green Buildings are a huge opportunity to reduce carbon emissions. Action taken by stakeholders to encourage and operate green buildings will become a competitive edge. The Green Building Congress has always been a podium to facilitate advancement of Green Businesses in the country”

The Green Building Congress 2021 shall feature a 3-day virtual conference and a 30-day online Expo that showcases the latest green building technologies, green products, and services. The 30 days of Green Building Congress Expo will have more than 500 green products on display, showcasing the best and latest green trends, innovations, and technologies. The expo will offer the delegates an opportunity to visit the stalls virtually, learn about the products, and interact with the product manufacturers and service providers.

The Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) was established by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in 2001, with a vision ‘to enable sustainable built environment for all’.  CII has been facilitating wider adoption of green building concepts by working closely with stakeholders in advancing the green building movement in the country. With a Green Building footprint of 7.86 billion sq ft, and with over 6,781 projects adopting CII-IGBC’s 29 rating systems, the Green Building movement in India has been advancing at a rapid pace and transforming India, into one of the global leaders in green built environment.
