Tier-II and tier-III cities emerged as best investment destinations during uncertain times says Mr. N. Manohar, Speaker of Legislative Assembly, Government of Andhra Pradesh

CII Andhra Pradesh organised the Ninth edition of The HR Conclave with the theme “Leading in Uncertainty”. Speaking at the inaugural Session of the Conference Mr. N Manohar, Hon’ble speaker – Legislative Assembly, Government of Andhra Pradesh in his inaugural address said that employability is a major issue of concern for everybody. He was of the view that present engineering graduates coming out of the colleges are lacking industry oriented skills. In this regard the he felt that industry and educational institutes should work together for equipping the student with necessary skills.

Mr. Manohar urged the industry to focus more on tier-II and tier-III cities in Andhra Pradesh. With the increasing consumerism in the smaller towns and rural areas the tier-II and tier-III cities certainly emerged as best investment destinations, he said. He was of the opinion that the youth in tier-II and tier-III cities are more committed and loyal to organizations. However, he said that they need to be trained. For training the youth the Government of Andhra Pradesh has launched a scheme known as “Rajiv Yuva Kiranalu” for providing job specific skills to youth, he said.
 
Mr. Satish Pradhan, Chief, Group HR, Tata Sons Ltd in his inaugural address pointed out that economic decisions are driven by sentiments. In order to face the uncertain times he strongly felt that there is need for defined partnership between the Chief executive and HR head of the company. He also said that HR head need to take into the consideration of all stakeholders for facing the uncertain business environment. Speaking on the implications of Global Village - Impact on Indian Industry Mr. Ajit Ranade, Chief Economist, Aditya Birla Group said that there has been greater interaction between nation states for economic reasons. Talking about the current state of economy, he said that India has fundamental strength to sustain six percent economic growth. However, due to the present uncertainty in the policy formulation and adverse global conditions India cannot achieve the nine percent economic growth, he said.
 
Mr. V S Venkatraman, Convener, CII AP Human Resources and Industry Relations Panel & Vice President of Mahindra in his theme address said that uncertainty became new norm in present times. In the present global economic situations HR professionals are emerged as catalyst for change in the organizations, he said.
