Roadshow on Make in India Week & Press Conference with Mrs Kalpana Awasthi, IAS, Joint Secretary,

Amidst an oasis of growth Rajasthan should take a lead in manufacturing and export sector

thereby contributing to promote India as the most preferred global manufacturing destination

“India can urbanize only through technology. Our country is an oasis of growth, it is growing at 7.4% but it should accelerate to 9-10%. India’s FDI has gone up by 35% in last 18 months whereas globally it has gone down by 16%. The manufacturing sector should grow at 12-13% and for that to happen, Rajasthan’s manufacturing must grow at 15-16%.

Rajasthan is rich in mining, handicrafts, gems & Jewellery, cement, textiles, handicrafts. The State should take a lead in manufacturing sector and contribute towards promoting India as the most preferred global manufacturing destination”, said Smt. Kalpana Awasthi, IAS, Joint Secretary, DIPP, Government of India at an interactive session held in the city today.


With reference to the forth-coming Make in India Week scheduled between 13 - 18 February at Mumbai, Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) organized an Interactive Meet for the Make in India week with Smt. Kalpana Awasthi, IAS, Joint Secretary, DIPP, Government of India on Wednesday 13 January 2016 at Jaipur.


Sharing more about MAKE IN INDIA WEEK, Smt. Awasthi said “MAKE IN INDIA WEEK is about making a new India. Most of the Indian states are going to participate in the upcoming MAKE IN INDIA WEEK scheduled in Mumbai. Our focus will be Medium and Small industries and the start-ups”.
 

Ms Awasthi added that with the backdrop of world’s fastest growing economy ‘Make in India Week’ will showcase the potential of design, innovation and sustainability across country’s focus sectors. The six-day event is focused on sectors like defence and aerospace, automobile and auto components, chemicals and petrochemicals, construction equipment, materials and technology, food processing, infrastructure development, IT and Electronics, Industrial Equipment and Machinery, Pharmaceuticals, Textiles and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises. The weeklong event will be inaugurated by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India. 

Addressing the delegates, Dr Samit Sharma, Commissioner, Bureau of Investment Promotion, Government of Rajasthan said “ Rajasthan Govt has confirmed to take pavilion at MAKE IN INDIA week”. Rajasthan ranks #6 in India on World Bank’s ‘Ease of Doing Business’ index and we are sure we will be amongst first three shortly. 

Mr Suresh Poddar, Chairman, CII Rajasthan while welcoming the delegates added that Rajasthan has recently launched Rajasthan Investment Policy (RIPS); MSME Policy; Labour Reforms; Single Window System and organised Resurgent Rajasthan Partner Summit to showcase the investment opportunities and facilities available at Rajasthan. Apart from focusing on the manufacturing state is proactively working in sectors of tourism, mines and minerals, electronic hardware and lot more. 

Mr Nitin Gupta, Director and Head, CII Rajasthan mentioned that almost 15 states have confirmed their participation as of now. Participants from approx. 50 countries have confirmed including Australia, Austria, Canada, US, UK, Singapore, etc. Apart from State Seminars, there shall be sector specific seminars on Renewable Energy, Auto, Defence, Oil and Gas, Biotechnology, Skills, Railways, Textiles, MSMEs, Media and Entertainment, Chemicals, Food Processing, etc.
