Sep 30, 2019

Shri Prahlad Singh Patel, Minister of State (Independent Charge) Ministry of Culture & Ministry of Tourism,  Government of India released the Catalogue: India Pavilion at Venice Biennale at the 2nd CII Seminar on Art & Culture on 30 September 2019 at New Delhi. The Catalogue is a representation of India Pavilion; highlighting the theme of the Pavilion: “Our time for future caring” and showcasing works of each participating artiste. The Minister said that Ministry of Culture is committed to Public- Private Partnership (PPP) and would like to explore more avenues of collaboration with CII.

With Public Private partnership at the fore, the success of the Indian Pavilion at the Venice Biennale served as an example for future projects paving the way forward for India. “If we do not make it a continuous participation, we are going to be big losers as a country. ‘Continuous participation at Venice Biennale is what India needs, and we shall’, said Mr. Arun Goel, Secretary, Culture

Participation from the private sector is required as governments can only act as a catalyst. As we haven’t created a market space for ourselves in handicrafts, I suggest that CII sets up a Taskforce for Handicrafts, he added

Ms Tarana Sawhney, Chairperson, CII Taskforce on Art & Culture said we have come together for cause of creating awareness; for promoting PPP, to bring ideate; to build an art conscious society. Public-Private partnership provides a significant space for balancing policy innovation, access and diversity.

Ms Kiran Nadar, Chairperson, Kiran Nadar Museum of Art  said that India Pavilion at Venice Biennale was rated 5th by Financial  Times among the shows, a commendable achievement in PPP.
