CII felicitates Top 29 Designs of 2020 at the 20th India Design Summit– "Promotion of Indian Design for Design for Atmanirbhar Bharat (Self-reliant India)"

The 20th India Design Summit, organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in partnership with Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Govt. Of Indi, Federal Foreign Office, Govt. of Germany, Govt. of Uttarakhand and All India Council for Technical Education concluded today.

At the Valedictory session of the Design Summit, Mr Jamshyed Godrej in conversation with Mr. Udayant Malhoutra had advised it would be great practice a for designer to do one new thing each day. He further stated that design unification although complicated is the most crucial for improving design penetration in our nation. He further stated design in communication has been one of the most strategic tools in the present pandemic situation.

Dr Naushad Forbes in a fireside chat with Mr. Malhoutra stated that ‘wow’ factor is the most powerful and valuable appreciation for any designer. He further highlighted that a combination of ‘need finding’ and ‘customer feedback’ dictates design excellence and keeps us ahead of competition.

Mr. Deep Kapuria, Chairman, CII National Committee on Design (2020- 21) & Chairman, The Hi-tech Group stated that being adaptive and adding human interface have proved to be the most important enablers in design in these challenging times of uncertainty.

In his address at the valedictory session, Mr. Udayant Malhoutra, Chairman, India Design Summit 2020 and CEO & Managing Director Dynamatic Technologies Ltd observed that the engaging discussions on design thinking held during the summit has opened a plethora of opportunities towards Atmanirbhar Bharat.

Mr. Srini Srinivasan, President, World Design Organisation while congratulating the winners at the award ceremony mentioned that CII Design Excellence awards comprising of an eminent jury from all across the globe shall go a long way in promoting Indian design not just at a national, but at a global level.

 Prof. Pradyumna Vyas, Senior Advisor, Confederation of India Industry stressed that benchmarking is the most important to improve the standards of Indian design. CII Design Excellence awards have ensured global exposure to Indian design.

The Design Excellence Awards were conferred at the 20th CII India Design Summit to the winners. The CII Design Excellence Award is the acknowledgement and celebration of Indian Design and is the only awards program that has been consistently recognizing the design stars.

Eight days of the CII India Design Summit have witnessed a series of engaging and productive deliberations highlighting design interventions in various sectors to make India Atmanirbhar (self-reliant). With the participation of Germany as the Partner Country and international organizations such as World Design Organization, Korean Institute of Design Promotion and Taiwan Design Research Institute the summit stitched together a global perspective on the critical areas like healthcare, mobility, education, digital technologies, design for cities, MSMEs and many more. The summit also resulted in signing of an MoU between CII and Korean Institute of Design Promotion (KIDP) to strengthen the exchange of knowledge and experience through design programs, case studies, etc. to support Indo-Korean collaboration among design and manufacturing companies and to conduct joint researches on topics such as design, emerging technologies, and social changes.

In his closing remarks, Mr S Raghupathy, Deputy Director General, CII while conveying his vote of thanks to all the esteemed panelists and participants of 20th India Design Summit concluded that for India to be globally competitive, design must be pervasive across all sectors, and all segments of industry, society and nation.
