CII, in association with their Knowledge Partner, Wazir Advisors released a publication titled “Role of Indian Textile and Apparel Industry in Changing Global Supply-Demand Scenario” against the backdrop of “Texcon 2014: International Conference and Exposition on Textiles & Apparel” organized by CII on 15-16 October, 2014 at New Delhi.
The document aims to capture the changing position and role of the Indian textiles and apparel sector amid the myriad changes occurring in the manufacturing, trade and consumption of these products. It is brought out that the India textile and apparel sector can, and needs to, play an increasingly larger role in the country’s economic growth by generating employment and through exports.
The textiles and apparel landscape is examined both in the global and national context. A SWOT analysis of the Indian textile and apparel sector is also presented. On the domestic front issues related to manpower and procedural delay need urgent attention, while globally new nations are emerging in the list of largest suppliers due to their FTAs and lower manufacturing costs.
