CII in association with their Knowledge Partner, KPMG released a publication against the backdrop of CII Tourism Fest 2014 organized by CII on 5-7 December, 2014 at Chandigarh.
Bestowed with natural beauty and home to several archeological monuments, the north Indian region is a one of the top destinations in India. As a result, tourism is a major revenue generator for some of the north Indian states. This part of India has witnessed increase in tourist visits, boosted by government initiatives to promote tourism in their states. Trends such as medical and adventure tourism are driving tourism in the north Indian states.
The report examines the state of tourism in north India and discusses how concerted efforts by all stakeholders such as the central and state governments, private sector and the community at large can be pertinent for sustainable development and maintenance of the travel and tourism sector in north India.
