The Award for Excellence was established jointly by CII and Export-Import (EXIM) Bank of India in 1994 and is based on the EFQM Model for Excellence. Its main aim is to enhance the ‘Competitiveness of India Inc.’, and recognises organisations who have achieved excellence. Spearheading the Green Building movement in India is the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) part of the Confederation of Indian Industry. The Vision of Council is to 'to enable a sustainable built environment for all and facilitate India to be one of the global leaders in sustainable built environment by 2025.
 
Global Innovation & Technology Alliance (GITA) provides funding support (in the form of Soft Loan/Grant) for Industry–led bilateral, R&D projects through the funding programmes of the Department of Science & Technology (DST), Government of India with Israel, Canada, United Kingdom, Spain, Finland and Republic of Korea (South Korea).
 
The CII-ITC Centre of Excellence for Sustainable Development is pioneering the development and implementation of Sustainability Mangement Framework for Indian industry in the belief that future competitiveness requires internalization of sustainability management through a clear, practical framework.
 
Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), in collaboration with Bengal Engineering and Science University, Shibpur (BESU) has established a specialized, professionally managed Centre named “CII-BESU Industrial Research, Innovation and HRD Centre” to facilitate Industry and Academia partnerships for industrial and social benefits in West Bengal. The Centre was launched by Shri Kapil Sibal, Hon’ble Minister for Human Resource Development, Government of India, during the 4th CII University-Industry Council Symposium on 1st August 2009. The mission of the Industrial Research Centre is to provide a platform of interdisciplinary teaching and innovative research in the field of science and technology, which can lead to a better integrated R & D delivery system in India.
