Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has been engaged in shaping India's development journey and works proactively on transforming Indian Industry's engagement in national and international agenda. While there are many specialized services which CII provides focusing on Quality, Productivity, Technology, Skilling, and Sustainability, one of the major issues which requires much stronger attention in today’s global landscape is Corrosion Management and Corrosion Control Technologies and Standards. While it has reached an alarming state for the Indian and World economies, it’s causing severe damage and threat to public safety, manufacturing operations, product quality, infrastructure assets, etc. Looking at the seriousness of the issue, CII established the Corrosion Management Committee (CII CMC) in 2007 as a think tank for providing thought leadership and made pioneering contributions to spread corrosion awareness in the industry, institutions and to interact with government agencies highlighting the urgent need to develop policy advocacy and strategies on managing corrosion through audits & survey, training, plant visits, technology infusion platforms, conferences, publications, etc.
In order to extend the scope and reach of CII – Corrosion Management Committee, supported by NITI AAYOG and industry partners, CII is launching the “National Mission on Corrosion Management”. This National Mission would work towards developing a structured plan to mitigate the losses caused by corrosion impacting the Indian economy.
