Ø 6th International Conference on Anti counterfeiting & Anti Piracy( 6-7 September 2012)
Counterfeiting and Piracy are two of the fastest growing economic crimes in the world today. They threaten the economies of developed and developing countries alike, undermine trading relations, endanger public health and safety and affect new investment for economic growth. They affect all categories of products, but the impact is very high in sectors / product categories like fast moving consumer goods, pharmaceuticals, electronics, automobile and aircraft parts, music, publishing, software, telecom, cosmetics, personal care, beverages etc.
To address the above issues, the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) organised a two day International Conference on “Anti-Counterfeiting & Anti-Piracy “on 6-7 September 2012 at Mumbai. The main objectives of the conference was to highlight the economic and social issues/damages due to counterfeiting and piracy, to discuss the issues involved in combating counterfeiting (policy and enforcement related), to discuss sector specific issues and share case studies, to strengthen enforcement (lessons from Global Practices), to identify the role of technology in anti-counterfeiting and to chalk out strategies for industry. The conference brings together more than 200 CEOs and senior corporate executives, IP professionals committed to safeguarding intellectual property unites the global business community to more effectively identify and address intellectual property rights issues and petition for greater commitments by local, national and international officials in the enforcement and protection of IPR.
Ø Workshops/sensitization program on counterfeiting & Piracy ( June to Dec 2012)
CII as a Industry body has taken an initiative to Combat counterfeiting and piracy and to build a strong and prolonged partnership between the right holders and enforcement agencies and to strengthen coordination between them, CII organised ten orientation Programs for enforcement bodies like Police, Customs all over the country(Delhi, Kochi , Chennai, Hyderabad,Vadidara, Punjab, Mysore, Kolkata etc) to ensure that the Industry and the Government join hands to nip the evil in the bud.
