The “Sahcharya” Quality Circle from Bhilai Steel, Plant, Bhilai was adjudged the winner and was awarded the "Winners Trophy" in 25th Quality Circle National Final Competition 2012-2013 organized by Confederation of Indian Industry at New Delhi today. The first Runner up Trophy' was won by 'Ivention' Quality Circle from Lucas TVS Ltd, Puducherry and 'Navodaya' Quality Circle from TATA Motors Ltd. Lucknow bagged the Second Runner up Trophy. The consolation trophy was won by 'Ichiban’ Quality Circle' from Minda Industries Ltd. Pune.
Over 200 workers from 13 Quality Circle teams participated in the Competition. The assessment of the presentation was made on a weighted scale covering different aspects of the Quality Circle activity. The evaluation was based on factors like problem selection, analysis, solution, presentation, etc.
The Panel of judges included Mr C V Rao, Sr. Counselor- TQM Division CII & Partner, Think Inc, Mr B N Saxena, Management Consultant and Quality Circle Counselor & Mentor, and Mr Rajesh K Sharma, Chief G.M. Quality, Glaxo SmithKline.
Delivering the Welcome Remarks, Mr Rajeev Khurana, Member, CII Special Task Force on Skills & Education and AGM Maruti ITI Projects said that the Quality Circles foster a spirit of teamwork and cooperation and bring about a sea change in the attitudes of people. A united team with good communication across all levels invariably increases effectiveness and efficiency of any enterprise be it a family, a locality, a housing society or an organisation. Quality circles unleash the creativity in people and bring out the best in them’ continues improvement is the credo of the quality circle movement'. Mr Khurana gave away the trophies to the winners.
Mr C V Rao while speaking on the occasion mentioned that the Quality Circle Competition is a celebration of creativity, talent and recognition of talent and teamwork. It symbolizes the innovations and capabilities of workers and is a representation of a very positive employee - employer relationship. This competition plays a very important role in involving a wide cross section of employees in any organization for improving Quality, through exchange of ideas and views, sharing of experiences and various approaches to problem solving. He emphasized that focus should be on achieving zero defect and reducing wastages.
Quality Circles from companies who participated in the competition are from Ashok Leyland Ltd, Auro Dying (Vardhman Group), Bharat Electronics Ltd, Ghaziabad, BEL, Kotdwara, Denso India Ltd, Noida, JCB India Ltd, Krishna Maruti Ltd, Lumax India Ltd, Mahavir Spinning Mills, Mahindra Swaraj Limited, Mohali, Napino Auto & Electronics Ltd, Sandhar Technologies Ltd, Secure Meters Ltd,Solan, Subros Ltd, Trident Group and Tata Motors Limited, Lucknow participated in the CII QC Competition.
