Platforms like Industrial Expo critical to promote local industry : CII 

Awards for Best Display presented at CII Industrial Expo

CII Industrial Expo brought onto one platform all segments of the manufacturing & related industry facilitating business development & investments and will help MSMEs link with the large industry said Mr Manu Kochhar, Chairman, CII Uttarakhand State Council during the Valedictory Session of the Industrial Expo 2014,  a B2B (Business to Business) Industrial Show with Special Focus on MSMEs and Buyer Seller Meets organized by Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in partnership with Department of MSME, Government of Uttarakhand and supported by NSIC at Haridwar. He felt that MSMEs can play a significant role towards the development of small and hilly states like Uttarakhand. 

Sharing the highlights of the Expo, Mr Kochhar said that the present edition was much larger and broad based than the previous one with participation of 150 exhibitors from 11 states and one UT spread over an gross area of 6,100 sqm. The Expo also featured- Buyer Seller Meets by BHEL, Diesel Loco Modernisation Works (DMW) (Indian Railways, Patiala), Rail coach Factory (Kapurthala), Tata Motors Ltd, Minda Corporation, JBM Group, and Maruti Suzuki wherein participating companies shared their purchase processes and requirements. 

Sharing details about the visitors, Mr Kochhar informed that business visitors from across the country visited the Expo to see the products at display. In addition to Plant Head / Decision Makers and business visitors from various industrial areas of Uttarakhand, visitors from 17 states/ UT visited and make enquiries about various products / services at display. We had visitors from Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Orissa, Punjab, Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Karnataka etc, he added. 

Mr Camillo Mascarenhas, Manager – HR & EHS, SKF India Ltd said that Industrial Expo is an initiative with right perspective to build manufacturing culture in the state. It is a platform, where people get exposure to various manufacturing practices. Exhibitors from other states bring in with themselves the best practices, which will help industries in Uttarakhand to further enhance their prowess. 

Mr Suresh Redhu, Executive Director & VP-Manufacturing, Aquamall Water Solutions Ltd said that this type of Expo, brings all the stakeholders closer and helps in building strong partnership. This is one stop exhibition on what state can offer to both buyers and sellers, he added. 

Mr Prashant V Mahadik, Vice Chairman, CII Uttarakhand State Council presented the vote of thanks. He said that the state has emerged as a key manufacturing destination, specially in the auto sector with the state emerging as auto hub of North India. Many auto majors, including Tata Motors, Ashok Leyland, Hero Honda, Mahindra & Mahindra and Bajaj Auto have set up their plants along with vendor parks for their key vendors in the state, he added. 

During the session, Awards for Best Display at the exhibition were also presented.
