Agriculture, Food Processing & Allied Sectors:
• 75% of spice exports from India are sourced from Kerala
• Produces 97% of the National output of Black Pepper.
• Accounts for 61% of the Country’s Coconut and 85% of Coir production.
• 80% of India’s export quality Cashew is processed in Kollam.
• Major producer of Banana, Jackfruit, Ginger, Nutmeg,
Tamarind and Cardomom.
• Major exporter of Cashew, Coffee, Tea and Pickles.
• Home to 75% of India’s EU Certified Sea Food Units.

Ayurveda:
• Home to the country’s oldest forms of Medicinal Care and Treatments.
• Has more than 1500 Ayurvedic Medical Care Establishments.
• Has the largest number of Ayurveda Colleges and Practitioners in comparison
to any other region in the world.
• Only state in India where Ayurveda is the mainstream of medicine.

Tourism:
• Tourism contributes to 10% of the State’s GDP and accounts
for 23.5% of employment in the State.

IT & Electronics:
• First State in the Country to setup a company dedicated to Electronics
(KELTRON).
• Highest internet penetration (40%), Tele-Density (99%) and penetration of
optic fibrecable in India.
• First fully electrified and digital state in the country. Has the country’s first
high speed rural broadband (Idukki).
