As you are aware, improvement in the ease of doing business has been among the major priority areas of the government at both Central as well as state levels. Business reforms have been introduced at a rapid pace at a pan-India level. Reflecting the pace of these reforms, India’s Doing Business ranking has improved consistently from 142 in 2014 to 100th position (out of 190 economies) now, according to the Doing Business Report of the World Bank. The country aims at joining the league of top 50 nations in the next two years or so.
CII has been in the forefront of the business reforms process and has worked assiduously with Central & state Governments, Industry, regulators and other stakeholders to help improve the business climate in the country. We have been providing industry feedback to policy makers on business reforms through well-researched reports, articles, meetings, representations, workshops & conferences.
Moving a step ahead in this direction, we are now launching the bi–monthly publication ‘CII Ease of Doing Business Watch’, which primarily aims at tracking the business reforms being introduced by the government and providing feedback from stakeholders on the same. It also attempts to highlight the best practices in various parameters of ease of doing business, which can be considered for implementation by desirous states.
Following are the broad Sections of the Inaugural issue of the ‘CII Ease of Doing Business Watch’:
