CII Pinnacle Awards for Excellence in Manufacturing
India continues to be among the fastest growing economies globally, and manufacturing has the potential to emerge as one of the highest growth sectors in India. The Indian Government, in line with its “Make in India” objective, has set an ambitious target of increasing the contribution of manufacturing output to 25% of gross domestic product (GDP) by 2025 - which is a 9% increase from the present level of 16%. India has a massive workforce, an emerging supply base, and access to several natural resources needed in production. India could create 60 million to 90 million new manufacturing jobs and become an attractive investment destination. To capture the available opportunity, India’s manufacturing sector will have to improve its efficiency dramatically. If these core advantages are capitalized well, India is well poised to become the world’s fifth largest manufacturer by 2020.
