It has been observed that most of the companies globally do not have a formal sexual harassment policy in place. Seeking to ensure safe working place for women, in 1997 the Supreme Court of India established the Visakha guidelines on sexual harassment. Inspite of this stipulation, there has been a big gap between having a policy in place and actual implementation in spirit and practice.

In order to sensitise industry on this issue, CII with the support from United Nations Fund for Women (UNIFEM) took up the project " Prevention of sexual harassment at workplace".

CII offers its services to its member companies for conducting gender equality workshop at the workplace.
