Outcomes Inspiring Trust founded on Technology, Reach, Upliftment, Scalability and Togetherness: Jyotiraditya Scindia

Recognising that building trust through enlightened leadership has emerged as a cornerstone for sustainable growth and a hallmark for taking India forward, it is imperative to focus on outcomes which inspire trust. And these are based on five pillars namely Technology (T), Reach (R), Upliftment (U), Scalability (S) and Togetherness (T). Such a potent admixture has the potential for emerging as a strong medium for Viksit Bharat. This was stated by Shri Jyotiraditya Scindia, Minister of Communications and Development of North-Eastern Region during the Special Plenary on ‘Connecting India, Empowering the Northeast: Realising the India First Vision’ at the Annual Business Summit 2025 held by CII today.

On technology, the first pillar, the Minister alluded that India today is leading the revolution in the technology and telecommunications space. For instance, India is seen as a digital first economy and there is a telecom revolution currently underway. Scalability has reduced the cost of communication which presently is among the lowest in the world. The country has achieved atmanirbharta in telecom and is among the four countries manufacturing the technology stack. Technology is also transforming the postal department with new services being introduced in the postal system, added the Minister.

According to the Minister, the second pillar is about reach. And there is no better exposition than to showcase the exponential success of the Northeast. He underscored the significance of the Northeast as a centre piece of India’s progress with the decadal growth rate exceeding 12-13%. The eight states would emerge as an engine driving India’s ambition of Viksit Bharat, he added. The Hon’ble Prime Minister has transformed the Northeast through landmark initiatives- gross budgetary support for infrastructure investments has gone up significantly in areas such as airports, national highways, etc. The tax devolution to NER states has grown multifold while grants-in-aid have nearly doubled. Northeast is being visualised as the gateway for trade with South-East Asia.

The third pillar is about upliftment of the citizens, stated the MInister. This has entailed bringing 25 crore citizens out of poverty in the last eleven years. Similarly, building affordable housing for the poor, providing affordable healthcare through the Ayushman Bharat scheme, Ujwala yojana etc are monumental changes which are transformational as well as innovative.

Scalability is the fourth pillar which draws from the scale economies from innovative schemes such the UPI, Aadhar, Direct Benefit Transfer, among others. Around 47 per cent of the digital transactions are in India and the UPI has gone global in its scope, he added. The fifth pillar is about building togetherness wherein India believes in the precept of unity in diversity and fostering inclusion.

Congratulating CII on the AGM theme of building trust, the Minister stated that CII has made a remarkable contribution to developmental efforts which impacts every citizen in the country and said that building trust is founded on the principle of consistency. India emerging as the fourth largest economy in the world is a commendable achievement, he said.

Mr Chandrajit Banerjee, Director General, CII during his welcome address, stated that CII is keen on leveraging opportunities in opening centres of skill development, logistics, model career centres and sought vision and guidance from the Minister on how industry could move forward.

Mr Sanjiv Puri, President, CII, while congratulating the Minister for garnering investment interest of Rs 4.3 lakh crore from the Rising North-East Investors Summit 2025, stated that the North-East was transforming into India’s strategic gateway to South-East Asia, powering trade, connectivity and our ambition for Viksit Bharat. There is tremendous scope for industry participation in areas such as developing skill hubs in hospitality, food processing etc, which should be leveraged for maximum advantage, he added.
