AI: A Catalyst for Vikshit Bharat @2047

 

The AGM & Annual Business Summit 2025 convened industry leaders, policymakers, and technology pioneers at the Taj Palace in New Delhi to discuss the transformative potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in shaping a "Vikshit Bharat @2047." A key session titled “The Indian AI Ecosystem: Catalyzing Growth with Responsible Governance” highlighted India’s strategic position as a rising global AI powerhouse and underscored the importance of responsible innovation, ethical practices, and inclusive growth.

Distinguished Speakers and Their Insights:

Ms Debjani Ghosh, Distinguished Fellow at NITI Aayog and Chief Architect of the NITI Frontier Tech Hub, emphasized the rapid advancements in AI performance, noting that by January 2025, DeepAI’s latest model achieved a performance score of 78.2%, up from 59% a year prior. She highlighted that industry-led development now accounts for nearly 90% of frontier AI models, underscoring industry’s leadership in global AI innovation. Ms Ghosh identified three key forces shaping the future: programmable biology, advanced AI, and ubiquitous edge computing. She stressed the crucial role of policy and industry collaboration in fostering responsible AI growth

.Mr Shiv Siddhant Kaul, Co-chair of the CII National AI Forum and Managing Director of Nicco Engineering Services Ltd, pointed out that the ease of adopting AI tools is steadily increasing. He emphasized that education and training are vital to expanding employment opportunities and ensuring that India’s workforce is prepared for the AI-driven economy.

Mr Sandip Patel, Managing Director of IBM India and South Asia, highlighted that 95% of organizations are engaging with AI technologies, positioning India as a global leader in AI adoption. He outlined three pillars for success: collaboration between industry and government, robust skilling initiatives, and effective AI governance. Mr Patel reaffirmed India’s position as the top adopter of AI among nations, reinforcing the country’s potential to accelerate its journey toward Vikshit Bharat @2047.

Mr Alok B Lall, Chief Operating Officer at Microsoft India & South Asia, underscored the vast opportunities for industry to leverage AI collectively, emphasizing the importance of collaborative efforts to harness AI’s full potential for societal benefit.

Mr Taranjeet Singh Bhamra, Chairman of CII Chandigarh UT and Founder & CEO of AgNext Technologies, highlighted the significance of establishing unified quality frameworks. Such frameworks can improve output quality, quantity, and ensure fair payment systems, fostering sustainable growth across sectors.

The summit also featured the release of a comprehensive report on the “India AI Ecosystem: Catalyzing Growth with Responsible AI”, emphasizing the need for scalable, inclusive, and sustainable AI-driven solutions.

As India moves towards 2047, the consensus among speakers was clear: AI is not merely a technological tool but a catalyst for inclusive growth, digital sovereignty, and societal progress. Building an ecosystem that promotes innovation at all levels—supported by strong governance, ethical practices, and a focus on citizen benefits—will be key to realizing the vision of a Vikshit Bharat.

The summit concluded with a call to action for industry, government, and academia to collaborate proactively, ensuring AI serves as an engine for a prosperous, equitable, and sustainable India.
