Janpath and Mandi House becomes first Metro Stations in the country to receive IGBC’s Green Metro Rating
Providing a major impetus to India’s concerted efforts to facilitate India emerge as one of the global leader in Green Metro Systems, Janpath and Mandi House Metro Stations of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Limited (DMRC) was awarded with Indian Green Building Council’s (IGBC ) Platinum Rating, under IGBC Green Mass Rapid Transit System Rating- world’s first comprehensive rating for rail based MRTS System.
Mr. Prakash Javadekar, Hon'ble Minister of State Environment, Forest & Climate Change (Independent Charge), Govt. of India presented the IGBC Plaque to Dr. Mangu Singh, Managing Director, DMRC Ltd at the first edition of Conference on Green Metro Systems organised, jointly by CII-Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) and Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Limited (DMRC) on 12 June 2015 at DMRC- Metro Bhawan, New Delhi.
Unique green buildings features incorporated Janpath and Mandi House stations (underground stations) will result in the following:
· 15% savings through energy efficient air-conditioning
· 100 % Rain Water Harvesting
· 50% of station energy requirements will be met through renewable energy sources
- Superior Indoor Air Quality through UVGI Lamps
Mr. Prakash Javadekar, Hon'ble Minister of State Environment, Forest & Climate Change (Independent Charge), Govt. of India; Mr. Asim Ahmed Khan, Hon’ble Minister for Environment & Forest, Govt. of NCT of Delhi; Dr. Mangu Singh, Managing Director, DMRC Ltd and Dr Prem C Jain, Chairman IGBC addressed at the inaugural session.
Leading experts deliberated, discussed and shared ideas & experiences on how to develop World-class Green Metro Systems and in the process facilitate India emerge as a global leader in Green Metro Systems.
