CII in association with its knowledge partner Accenture released a report on “Indian Steel Industry: An overview and growth prospects in North India” against the backdrop of the 3rd Steel Mart 2013 organized by CII on 27- 28 November, 2013 at Chandigarh.
The Indian steel industry has achieved significant milestones in terms of growth, production & exports to become a major player in the global steel industry. Rapid rise in production has resulted in India becoming the 4th largest producer of crude steel and the largest producer of sponge iron in the world.
The report details the Indian steel industry landscape, its potential growth constraints, the investment opportunities and the challenging global environment. In addition, the steel industry in north India is examined; opportunities, challenges and initiatives for the sector at large are detailed. Suggestions are also provided on de-bottlenecking the steel sector in north India.
