Towards the endeavour of ease of doing business, earlier in 2020, CII submitted a detailed note on decriminalization of business and economic legislations covering 37 legislations including Companies Act, Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code and legislations in the domains of environment protection, consumer protection and labour laws.
In continuation of the efforts, CII has further compiled another set of key legislations highlighting provisions that may be further decriminalised by the government, regulators, respective ministries for their consideration. The CII submission - Decriminalization of Business and Economic Legislations (Part II) covers legislations including Competition Act, Legal Metrology Act, to name a few, highlighting provisions that may be decriminalised. This report also presents a table capturing provisions that need not be decriminalised.
