The report captures the key initiatives, policy engagements, research activities, and capacity-building programmes undertaken by ITPD during the year in collaboration with the Centre for Research in International Trade (CRIT), including the Centre for Trade and Investment Law (CTIL) and the Centre for WTO Studies (CWS).
Over the past year, ITPD has continued to strengthen the interface between government and industry through focused dissemination of trade-related insights and structured stakeholder consultations. In 2025, our work expanded to address a broader spectrum of global trade and economic issues, including Free Trade Agreements (FTAs), supply chains, sustainability standards, investment, Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), services trade, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming and Comics (AVGC), government procurement, and MSME internationalization strategies.
The report highlights three key frontiers shaping the future of globalization and India's trade landscape:
• FTAs – Dissemination and Utilization: Enhancing awareness and effective utilization of India's trade agreements to unlock new market opportunities.
• Technology-Driven Services: Examining the growing role of Global Capability Centres (GCCs), AI, and digital transformation in driving India's services exports and competitiveness.
• Sustainability: Exploring the increasing influence of sustainability standards, green trade measures, and responsible business practices on global commerce.
