This white paper focuses on improving the Ease of Doing Business (EoDB) in the bamboo sector in Northeast India by reducing compliance burdens, strengthening institutional frameworks, and promoting competitiveness. It highlights bamboo’s potential as a livelihood resource and green industrial driver, while pointing out challenges like fragmented regulations and weak governance. The paper proposes compliance reform, adoption of global best practices, and creation of a statutory Bamboo Development Board/Authority headquartered in the Northeast to unlock bamboo’s full potential.
